What are Blackheads?
Blackheads are broad openings on the skin with black or yellow rubbles covering them. These are also called as ‘Open Comedo’. Filled with keratin squamae, bacteria and oil blackheads appear as a black spot on the skin, that are very hard to see with the naked eye. In case of ignorance, one may end up having acne or pimples on the skin. What causes them?
When a person enters teenage, the hormone levels start increasing which lead
to development of blackheads. Use of excessive make-up especially on oily skin
also causes them.
How to get rid of them?
Facial is considered to be the best way of removing blackheads no matter what
skin type you possess. Facials are expensive if done at a beauty salon and at
the same time very cheap if done at home on your own. I would recommend facials
to be done on your very own since it would be an inexpensive process this
way.
Following are given some simple and easy steps to give you a blackheads free
skin in no time.
Step 1: Cleanse your face
First and foremost, wear a headband or tie your hair to keep them off your
face. Wash off any excessive oil or dirt from your face and pat it dry. Now use
a cleanser that suits your skin type and cleanse your face with it. Wipe it off
using cotton balls. Any cleanser be it liquid or exfoliating would do the trick.
While cleansing focus more on your forehead, nose and chin. For exfoliating
cleanser, apply it gently moving your finger tip in circular motions. Once done,
wash off the cleanser with a mild soap or face wash.
Step 2: Open up the pores
Steam is the best way to open up clogged pores.Salons generally use electric
steamers, but you can also make your very own steamer at home.Take a deep bowl
and pour in some boiling water. Take a towel and place it over your head in such
a way that the steam hits your face directly. Stay in that position for five to
ten minutes. There is also an alternate way to open pores. Soak a face towel in
hot water. Squeeze out the excess water and cover your face with it for the same
time duration.
Step 3: Finally squeezing out that black stuff
This will be done with the help of a ‘blackhead extractor’ that is easily
available at any drug store or supermarkets such as Wall-mart or Target.
Firstly, sanitize your tool with few drops of alcohol and wipe it off with a
tissue paper. Secondly, choose a place that is well illuminated, that your pores
are clearly visible so that the process of extracting blackheads is effective.
Firmly press out the blackheads with the round tip of extractor. This is a
painful process so you may prefer taking breaks in between.
Step 4: Apply a mask
In order to reduce the redness wash your face with cold water and apply a
chamomile toner to close the pores. Lastly, put on a facial mask for twenty
minutes to remove the blackheads you may have left behind.
Step 5: Moisturize
For mark free, charming and healthy skin, moisturize your skin with any
moisturizing lotion or cream for a final touch to the whole process.
